TVB Ghost Writer Episode 08
Took leave yesterday just to had my High Speed Broadband from TM UniFi. Before they came to do the installation, I was told that the whole process would take roughly about 7-8 hours. The appointment was set at 9.30am for them to arrive at my place but they called up and changed it to 10am instead. After they arrive, came inside and took a look at my room, they went out toward the back part to pull the Fibre Optic cable. While waiting for them to do that, I went over to e@Curve to get a 5 power point extension (RM25) and a HDMI-to-DVI cable (RM70). Reach home around 11am to see them just finished pulling the Fibre Optic to my place. Since my room could be access from the window, all of them came in to my room by the window instead. Including setting up the Premise Gateway (router), BTU, DECT Phone and Set-Top-Box (STB) it took them about 3 hours plus only. If your places requires hacking on the wall, that would probably takes longer and would mostly likely need up till 7 hours.
Anyway, I tested the UniFi speed and I only manage to get around 90% of 5MB which is around 4500+ and the funny thing is the upload speed is higher than the download speed. I manage to get like 6000+ for the upload speed for one of the test result. Haven’t really tested on any downloads or uploads yet but on YouTube.com, the speed for the video to load is much faster now. Its like you don’t have to wait for it to buffer completely before playing the video. Torrent speed on uTorrent is extremely slow. Very much slower than my 4MB streamyx. At least on my streamyx, I could still manage to download at 100kb/sec. Mind you, that is for the same torrent file that I tested with. By the way, seems that UniFi also blocked/filtered out certain sites from viewing. Will gonna try and change back to streamyx and test for the same site and see if it is really down or just UniFi blocked it.
